1. You need 1/2 cup of margarine or butter.
2. It's 1/2 cup of shortening.
3. You need 1 of large egg.
4. It's 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla essence or grated lemon/orange zest.
5. Prepare 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder.
6. It's 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda.
7. You need of I cup sugar (plus additional 2 tablespoons for sprinkling).

Simple Sugar Cookies instructions

1. Cream the sugar, shortening and margarine/butter until fluffy..
2. Add the vanilla or zest(whichever you are using).
3. Add egg, beaten separately..
4. Sift flour,baking soda and baking powder together and add to the mixture..
5. Mix until you have a soft dough, now make small coin sized disks.
6. Bake in preheated oven at 180 degrees for 25mins..
7. Sprinkle with sugar while still hot. Let cool and enjoy..
